The Speak Foundation
The Speak Foundation is proud to partner with top researchers from the GRASP LGMD Consortium throughout the world. The Genetic Resolution and Assessments Solving Phenotypes in LGMD consortium (GRASP LGMD) was formed in 2018 with the primary mission of developing validated COAs and biomarkers across the LGMDs in advance of precision-based therapies. GRASP researchers are the best investigators in the world for LGMD.
The consortium currently has 13 members in the United States and Europe. These leading academic investigators have come together and are excited about the opportunities provided by new genetic therapies and the ability to treat previously untreatable conditions. In addition to their academic sites, the investigators have worked closely with patient advocacy groups, such as the Speak Foundation. As in any rare disease, these efforts require a close partnership with patients to participate in studies and describe the burden of these conditions.
GRASP LGMD is involved in all the major clinical trials in the USA to develop treatments for LGMD. Many of the world's leading neurologists are members of GRASP.
