Our mission is to improve the lives of those living with muscular dystrophy.

Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy Personal Care Program

The frustration that many disabled Americans feel is how to pay for PCA services to get work ready every morning. Those who use a wheelchair and have significant issues with ADL's often find that a considerable amount of income goes to pay for a personal care attendant to come in every morning to help.

The Speak Foundation is proud of this program that helps those living with disabilities and work in the USA.  A limited number of supplemental grants are awarded to approved individuals who work full time (more than 30 hours a week), use a mobility scooter or wheelchair 80% of the day, and require moderate assistance with all ADLs.  Individuals with Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy are encouraged to apply and will receive priority per donor request. The grant helps pay a small stipend per month to each individual to help defray the cost of hiring a PCA.

Individuals are ineligible if they are currently

on disability income or already receive waiver services.

This program is a GAP initiative to provide for individuals currently ineligible for services in their state. Our 2020 award cycle has already been completed.  Our 2021 applicant cycle will be released in late December 2020.
